Velato

It’s a table that doesn’t need tablecloths. It already has one carved into the marble top made with the sculptural force of water. Its dense pleats present in the thickness of the top are not decorations as an end in themselves, they are simply the traces left on the marble by a CNC machine that cuts the shape of the top with a thin jet of water. Raised, flowing and irregular traces that form when the machine operator ventures into cuts of marble thicknesses greater than those for which the machine was designed and in which the water jet tends more to free itself from the control of the machine and man.
